Mr. Jim Smith earned two master’s degrees from New Mexico State University in history and government and has completed postgraduate work at American University and Stanford University.
Mr. Smith taught history and humanities in for thirty years in Las Cruces, New Mexico before beginning his full-time career as an educational consultant, writer, and publisher. Mr. Smith serves as a consultant for The College Board® presenting AP® U. S. History professional development focused on teaching writing in social studies classrooms. Mr. Smith is the author of an American history textbook titled, Ideas That Shape a Nation, endorsed by two Pulitzer Prize-winning historians, and he is the recipient of several national and state awards.
