Non-profit recognized for innovative accomplishments using rich media webcasting (DALLAS) – The Center for Educational ReVision (CerV®), a non-profit provider of professional training programs for teachers, today announced the organization’s Star Quality Resources™ program has been named a finalist in the ninth annual Rich Media Impact Awards in the “Prolific Use Award” category by Sonic Foundry, Inc. the trusted leader for video content management and webcasting solutions.“We are honored to be a finalist in the Rich Media Impact Awards,” said Deborah E. Louis, president and chief executive officer of CerV. “Star Quality Resources utilizes Mediasite to change the way teachers receive their continuing education. Our goal is to give teachers specific core, competency-based training rather than the broad training approach traditional workshops offer due to the finite amount of time they have. Ultimately, we strive to empower teachers in an engaging format that is user-friendly, time-saving and effective.”
Star Quality Resources is a unique program that combines technology, collaboration and self-paced learning to create a “blended learning” environment. The online, on-demand interface enables educators to engage the program at their pace and discretion using desktops, laptops, and mobile devices. The result is practice-based teacher education with a deeper, more flexible and cost-effective learning environment when compared to relying solely on traditional face-to-face workshops.
The program encompasses twelve online courses in the four tested subjects of English, Math, Science and Social Studies. Each course is comprised of 24, 20-30 minute workshops focusing on reporting categories and best practices to help teachers improve student performance. Accompanying each video are Teacher Notes and a Student Galaxy of Think Sheets and activities. Master teachers, Catalyst® mentors, and recognized presenters produced the courses which are focused on and aligned with Texas’ Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and the Common Core State Standards.
“The Rich Media Impact Awards program allow us to go behind-the-scenes to see how our customers are using Mediasite to improve the way they communicate, save money and increase productivity through live streaming online video and rich media webcasts,” said Rob Lipps, Executive Vice President of Sonic Foundry. “CerV has an exemplary video success story to tell and we’re excited for the rest of the world to hear about it.”
Winners will be announced during a special ceremony at UNLEASH 2013, the Mediasite User Conference, taking place April 28 to May 1.
